  1. So sounds like my local garage can fit it OK. I don't understand a word of it! Ha ha.
  2. Hi, this is probably going to be a stupid question, but I recently broke the signal light and it is now covered in clear tape;. The light works fine, but I fear the sharp bit may faill my MOT. Skoda want £120 to replace it. I can buy the part online for about £20. My question is will my local garage be able to fit it, as it seems quite a fiddly job to take out the mirror, then something else. Or would any garage know how to do that.
  3. I showed them a picture of it, but they still said if no code is showing, nothing they can do under warranty.
  4. I just posted on another thread. Same problem with Error Workshop etc. No fault could be found so they cannot fixed under my extended warranty. Can anyone tell me if this will became a major problem if I do nothing. They have told me to come back when it happens again, leaving the ignition switched on so they can see the code. They also told me they have other customers with the same problem and not to believe all I read on forums!!!
  5. My car is a 2017 Octavia 7 speed DSG with 40K on the clock. I have had this fault intermittently for about a year. Just been on a driving holiday and it didn't appear once. Booked it in with Skoda yesterday as I am on extended warranty. No fault shows when they do the diagnostics and I am informed that quite a few customers have the same problem! It was suggested that the next time it happens, I drive it to Skoda and leave the ignition on so they can see the fault, otherwise they cannot fix it under the warranty as they don't know if it's a microswitch or the whole gear assembly. Am I OK to ignore it or will I break down on a journey at some stage?
  6. Just had the same problem. Cleaned the windscreen numerous times, then tried vinegar and it at last seems to be better.
  7. Hi Frank. Do you mean just an ordinary garage. Skoda want £60 for a diagnostic that might not even show it and then £160 for the microswitch if it's that.
  8. Hi, I have been getting this message on and off for over a year. It's hardly on for more than 2 seconds. Today it came on twice and I could just about read it before it went off. Skoda tell me it's either a microswitch which will cost £160 or a whole lever assembly. What happens if I just leave it?
  9. Having a problem with my stop start. Tried to check battery status by pressing trip button, but only goes to Time, followed by Service. No Battery? Skoda Octavia 2017, 35K on clock aH, just read that this is no longer available afterf 2016.
  10. Thank you. Will ask the garage next time I pass. What happens if you do nothing?
  11. 3 times now, I get an error flash up in front of me, but it's gone before I can rully read it. It says Error Workshop........then goes off. I have an Octavia DSG 2017 car with 29,000 on the clock.
  12. I have the same query. Car is 4 years old and has done 28000 miles. Next August will be the official Cam Belt change - err I think or so the Skoda dealership says. It will have done about 35000 miles by next August. Can I assume I don't need a Cam belt change? It's a 1.6 Octavia 2017 estate diesel automatic.
  13. Thank you. I will get the aircon services next time and will just monitor what they say about the shocks.
  14. Rather pleased to read all these posts. Just had my 2017 Octavia MOTd and Inspection service. Got a red warning that I need an Aircon service (£99) and an Amber warning that shocks are leaking. (£511) The car is 2017 Auto Octavia, with 27,500 on the clock. Tyres are only down to 4 since new and brake pads are only 40% worn. So I rang to find out what it meant and how could it be on this car. Never known it before on any car. OK I have a misting, not a leak!! Is this a money making exercise?
  15. Thank you so much for the information. That will save some money. 🙂
