I have a 2009 Fabia estate, tdi.  I noticed an oil leak which I identified as a small hole in one of the hoses.  I'm less than car savvy but it seemed an easy fix.  I proceeded to remove the offending hose and replaced it.  Expecting to start the vehicle and pop to the shops, the engine did not start and another leak was identified - in the image - the metal part marked red which is bolted - the leak was from the underneath of this part.
Does anyone know what might have happened please?  I have booked a mechanic to take a look but i'm considering just scraping it!

Those are fuel lines, not oil and the repairs you have done are not suitable for fuel pipes, you need professional help I'm afraid.

Hi thanks, yes, I do!  Is the issue the hose is too wide?  I think it should have been 8mm.  Are the clips incorrect too?  Thanks again. Alex

you've also probably introduced air into the system hence why it won't start. You need to cycle the key a few times to let the pump push the air out. If it still doesn't work then you might need to pop the return fuel line and cycle the key until all of the air came out. If you're not car savy or don't feel comfortable handling fuel then you can guess what my advice would be.
