Irritating vibration noise

Featured Replies

Hello,

I purchased a Skoda Octavia estate 2023 with only 2500km a couple of weeks ago from a well-known and trustworthy dealer.

Now, when I'm driving I have a very irritating vibrating noise at the left front (driver side) dashboard/door area. It's more profound when I drive at a steady speed, so I guess it's vibrating in sync with the engine rpm.

When I started looking for the problem I discovered 3 screws (see pic) in the door storage area. I think that some kind of reparation work was done and they forgot to install those screws afterwards.

I tried to reach out to the dealer but still no answer.

Does someone recognise those screws and know how I can put them back in place? I can't find any information on how to access or remove this part of the car online.

Thank you in advance

E.

I don't see where phillips screws would go into tbh, i work at a VW factory and i've only ever seen screws with torx heads put in the cars, i've i'm not mistaken Skodas should be the same.

Check the transparent parking ticket holder, mine started rattling last week for the first time.

Another item that causes the issue is the sun visor - more exactly the place when it’s fixed in to your roof.
i had 6 months with that noise and couldnt find out the culprit.

Hello, thank you for the response but it isn't the parking ticket holder or the sun visor. It's definitely somewhere below the steering wheel and I think it's behind the dashboard.

So, I'll keep on searching...

One of the rattles we had on our Kodiaq was from the old port in the bottom part of the dash as it was a very loose fit in its slot.

Can you specify what you mean by 'the old port'?

I'm pretty sure the rattle comes from the pedal area below the steering wheel.

The rattle is only there when the engine or the wheels are at a constant speed so it's definitely some kind of resonance frequency issue but I can't find what causes it. I tried to put my hand almost on any part I can reach in the area but the rattle keeps on going. 😞

Sorry...   Spellcheck stepped in...   That should have read 'OBD port' below the steering wheel on the underside of the dash near the door.

Oh, too bad, that's not it. Thanks anyway.

My car also seems to have developed a noisy dash. Disappointing really.

Hello,

Just a little update.
I went to a Skoda Service point and they found the problem.

The hydraulic brake line bracket on the firewall came loose. They fixed it again and the sound was gone!

Mine starts creaking sometimes at the instrument display surround join.

Our 2021 golf sounded like a bucket of nuts and bolts after 3 years and only 16k miles. Hope this new FL Skoda isn't in for the same fate
