Key personalisation not working as expected

Featured Replies

As I understand it, personalisation settings are automatically assigned to keys. So if I set the user as me and lock the car with my key, my profile is signed to that key. And the profile for the second user is assigned to their key, when they do likewise.

Therefore, if I've been driving the car and then the second user unlocks the car with their key, I would expect the car to recognise the change of user and adjust the seat etc accordingly but it doesn't. You have to go through the rigmarole of changing user on the screen, which is a pain, and not how it worked on my pervious Superb.

The garage have checked it and claim it's working fine. If that's true, all I can think is that it's a connectivity issue with Skoda Connect, as I live in more rural location than the Skoda dealer.

Has anyone else encountered this and if so, did you get a resolution?

I didn't even know this function was available on the Octavia. I have the vrs with the package including electric seats.  Maybe it's just not available to us down in Aus land.  I'll have to see if I can get mine to work, if it's available.  Hopefully someone that knows can help you.

We don't have Skoda Connect and therefore we don't get user profiles. Having looked at the coding for our cars we get personalisation 1.0 and Europe gets personalisation 2.0.

Our cars seem to lack the ability to associate settings with a key like their European counterparts. My car for example can't tell where the seat was for the previous occurrent depending on what key was last used. But it does have seat memory and easy access.

I've tried a few different options to see if I can get offline user profiles working like MIB2.5 vehicles had (e.g. Mk3.5 Octavia) but no luck. They broke/omitted a lot of the personalisation features when they designed MIB3 - it appears they built it for online first, then worked backwards for offline functions.

To answer your original question, key personalisation mostly doesn't work for vehicles with Skoda Connect.

See the SOP 48/20 Column for the Mk4 Octavia.

Hmm that's a shame. We are left behind it seems.

Yes it seems so.  Well my one stays as the last one had it set.  It doesn't make a difference which key we use, though we primarily just use one of the three.

That's unfortunate. It would have been good to have these options. Anyway it's not the end of the world I guess.
