Battery change time - Skoda Octavia L&K

Featured Replies

So the Octavia seems to be starting to experience a failing battery. Not terrible but auto stop/start is not working (SoC never seeming to get above 60%). A quick test (EN A) - battery should be 680A EN. It's showing 435A EN. Not great.

To replacements: I wanted to get hold of a OEM replacement Moll battery but they only exist in Germany/CZ). So the recommendation for replacement is a Bosch S4 E08 battery. Has anybody fitted one of these into their car? It looks (and measures) slightly larger than the OEM.

Didn't want to order it and find it didn't fit!

I believe that the type 096 is the maximum size that will fit the Octavia 3. Don't forget the adaptation.

Yerr...you bet. That is definitely something I wouldn't have forgotten about.

Did you replace your battery with the Bosch S4 E08 and if so did it fit ok?

Thanks.

It fitted like a dream. It's definitely the biggest battery and the only gotcha I had was making sure the manufacturer was set to VA0 (for Varta/Bosch). You need to transfer the thermal surround and also the +ve terminal plastic cover.

Thank you.
I’ll be buying one before the weekend - also need to get to grips with ‘registering’ the new battery to my car. Eeeh, modern technology eh?

There are three variables. They are all in 09 Central Electronics. 10-Variations and search for Battery. Now look at Battery Manufacturer: Set this to VA0 (otherwise the alternator won't kick in), set the Ah to 70 and the battery type to EFB.

Actually, my understanding is that there are only three important settings when replacing the battery - Type - (AGM or EFB) ; AH rating; and the serial number (which can be invented)

Nope....not true. If you look at Ross-tech's battery change webpage http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Battery_Replacement you will see there are about 4 different ways depending on the age and type of hardware in your car.

There are also about 10 different types of battery system as well to choose from. And never put in a random serial number. It poor practice.
