I've searched the forums and not come across what I was looking for, so apologies if I missed it.

 

I have an Iphone 14, latest version of IOS, 5G SIM (EE) . I initially accepted the default set up with Wireless Carplay which meant ALL Audio and Phone activity was through Carplay and the Telephone functionality of the Amundsen unit was redundant. I accepted this as progress. I've now discovered the downside of this; the Iphone is connected wirelessly to the Karoq's internal network 'My Skoda 9345' which I assume uses the built in SIM. Using Maps or Safari on the Iphone relies on builtin SIM's data connection, and its clearly no where near as good as the EE 5G sim in the Iphone.

 

So in order to retain access to the superior EE 5G SIM in the Iphone I have switched to BT Audio for the Telephone, Carplay has also reverted to Bluetooth connection, and my Iphone now retains its 5G access.

 

Is this the only way to do it or does someone know a way to use 'My Skoda 9345'  but still retain the use of the Iphone SIM. I should add my Iphone supports WiFi calling which I have switched on.

certainly Android auto does not use the built in sim data connection. However I have no details on Carplay
