Indicators not flashing when lock/unlock

Featured Replies

Greetings, i own a Skoda Octavia Mk2 - 1.9 TDI 105HP and i have recently had a door and fender replaced (front passenger's side -  due to a crash).

After the swap (same day) i noticed that when i tried to remotely lock/unlock the vehicle, the indicators wouldn't flash. Same exact behavior with the key in the actual door-lock. (would properly lock/unlock but no flash).

It has to pointed out, that the function that rolls all windows down/up on keyhold/keyturn has also stopped working. (And i assume no battery was dc'ed during the repair).

I have tried both keys, no avail.

All doors still lock and unlock properly, but the indicators do not flash like they are supposed to.

The shop responsible for the replace told me that, the parts they swapped inside the door(besides the actual door), were the window motor and the lock, which is true cause both my window and door handle were wobbly/loose - especially the outer handle (even before the crash).

They obviously claim the issue is unrelated, and even implied it predated their repair for a quick moment. (Which i did not appreciate at all to be honest)

Now question is, any idea what might be causing this issue? What could have gone so wrong during the door assembly?

I literally have no idea what part is responsible for "flashing the indicators" when you use central locking, or where it even resides inside the car.

The shop responsible for the replace

You've omitted to supply a location, but under UK law they'd be responsible for systems not operating as per specification.

I do not live in the UK 😞

The 'onboard power supply control unit' (J519 in circuits, module 09 in VCDS), controls the turn signals.

There's probably an adaptation choice of do/don't flash turn signals as confirmation of locking.

This may need re-setting for some reason.

The same module possibly has a enable/disable 'comfort opening/closing of windows' adaptation which may also require refreshing.

Looks like your garage has changed the options when setting up the opening/closing of windows etc. members with VCDS will make the changes for beer tokens [see VCDS in other pages of Briskoda for map of people near you]

You can also change the options yourself through the ODB2 diagnostic port and Carista software (free one off trial available most of the time).

Here is a list of some of the options you can change on your year and model:

Issue, solved

Thank you all so much for your valuable input and help. Deeply appreciated.

I'll make a rather long story extremely short and say this.

Took my vehicle to an auto-electrician's shop earlier this morning, and i'm guessing all it took was removing one (or both) battery cables.

Apparently swapping out specific electric parts ( or even plugging unplugging the current ones) can cause such an issue.

Also emphasis on the word "guessing" because the repair guy wasn't willing to disclose what he did to fix the issue.

If anyone wants to hear the full story i'd be happy to share (although i doubt anyone really cares), but yeah issue solved! / All indicators blink on lock/unlock and all windows roll up/down on keyhold.

On mine car these options can be set through the maxidot display in the instrument cluster.

Forget at the moment which options but I know for a fact they are in there.

Sounds to me like it was an issue with the alarm or the car thought one of the doors was still open (although the interior light and the door open warning would have given that away) The indicators do not flash on locking the car, they flash for activation of the alarm system.

For example, if you leave any of the doors open (apart from the drivers door) and you press the lock button, the car will lock its doors but the indicators will not flash. On closing the remaining door/s the indicators will then flash on activation of the alarm.
