Dcc springs

Featured Replies

Hello, I have skoda superb 2018 l&k 2.0tdi 140kw 4x4. Dcc.

What size springs is being used originally and is there any aftermarket springs same length, just harder? I don't want to affect height of the car.

I'm also having problem with bottoming out suspension on bad surface, I suspect that front struts are not the best condition and springs have seen better days. The only way to find that out is by removing each of them and inspecting struts..

Hopefully @Carlston will be along later and see this.

He seems to be a bit of a specialist when it comes to suspension components and part numbers.

Certainly helped me out with a recent query, so might well be able to do the same here.

Thanks, I will look into it. Have anyone tried them on superb? And what is the effect?

Is it a hatchback or estate? The estate will often use a slightly stiffer rear spring than the equivalent hatchback.

Does it have a factory fitted towbar? If so, the factory sometimes fits a slightly stiffer rear spring than the equivlant non-towbar model.

What are the OEM part numbers of the front and rear springs? These might be 5Q0411105GM front springs and 3Q0511115AL rear springs. If so, consider going up one weight range with both springs to 5Q0411105GN front springs and 3Q0511115M rear springs.

New shock absorbers could also be considered, if the performance of the old ones is suspect.

Could not edit my last post, so at the moment I'm considering to put original springs, to see if its going to make any difference, also check front struts, as the car has 135 000km mileage. After i could try a bit harder springs if that is going to help with bottoming out on bad roads. I like how soft is the car, i dont like the bottoming part :)

From VIN, your original front springs are 5Q0411105GN, and rears 3Q0511115AK.

The problem is that for the same code it gives me different height options. Front 318 or 322mm. Rear 360mm 365mm 358mm, and different diameter.

I'd remove front and rear wheels and use tape measure of current size of the discs.

For my case on 1.8t is 288mm front and 230 rear

Different brands will often have slightly different ideas of what the exact specification of each OEM part number should be.

Many of the aftermarket rear springs matching 3Q0511115AK have a wire diameter of only 11.75mm. This seems to be on the thin side, and for this reason I suggest going up one weight range to 3Q0511115AL where many of the aftermarket springs sold to match this OEM part number have a wire diameter of 12.5mm.

The online spring catalogues from Kilen, Lesjofors, and KYB list 3Q0511115AL rear springs for the Superb MK3 2.0TDI 140kW 4x4 hatchback. The gknautomotive.com spring catalogue also lists 3Q0511115AL rear springs for this car with DCC...and one weight range higher 3Q0511115M rear springs for this car without DCC. So it would appear that sometimes the DCC version gets slightly softer rear springs (one weight range softer) compared to the non-DCC version...at least going by the gknautomotive.com spring catalogue.

@CarlstonThank you, could you suggest one weight range up for front also?

For the rear, I'm guessing this is the closest match by length 3Q0511115M 365mm vs 366mm, the only difference is the outer diameter +6mm. Do I need anything else in order for 3Q0511115M to fit correctly?

Okay, so I found this to be the closest match for the front 1mm longer and 3mm thicker from Opel. RA1300

5Q0411105GP is one weight range up from 5Q0411105GN.

3Q0511115M is two weight ranges up from 3Q0511115AK, and gknautomotive.com list 3Q0511115M for the Passat B8 2.0TDI 176kW/240HP estate, so I suggest you limit the rear spring increase to 3Q0511115AL unless you regularly carry a lot of weight in back or tow a heavy caravan, etc.
