  • Did you flush out the fuel system and refill it with fresh fuel?

Lack of rpm indication suggests an electrical problem. Check all fuses for corrosion, one by one.

Two people, each with block of wood and hammer; opposite sides of ring, co-ordinate timing to hit at same time.

That's a left hand drive car. I would expect everything to be mirrored for right hand drive.

This is promising. Let me attempt this

The tray below the light switch gives direct access to relays. Just got those off. I opened everything before realising this.

The relays are out. Resistance us there in-between 85 86 pin but no clicks when I power 30 and 87

30 is permanent power in, 87 is power out to load, 85 and 86 are the coil which needs to get 12V across it before you will hear any clicks.

85 is low end of coil, 86 high end (but might be the other way round, see specific circuit). Google is your friend.

No clicking of relay when powered. Getting resistance though.

True. And that is where I am getting stuck. 85 86 should throw up resistance in 50 _150 range and I'm getting about 70 in some and in relay no 429 getting 740. Will try and power up and hear the clicks. So far nothing.

Can you supply the VIN for your car, so that I can find good wiring info, including relay positions, please.

Sure. It should be on the windscreen the vin number?

I am wondering if wiring the fuel pump from battery directly onto connector might help. This could be as simple as a wire gone bad.

Yes, can see it through the windscreen. Low down.

TMB....

Will do it in the day tmrw. Can't get a clear shot in the dark

Also, Abba, a member here, had similar issue and he indicated a fuel relay fuel in position 20. I have nothing in that position. Just hope it is as simple as that 😅

Can't you just write the number on a piece of paper, instead of attempting to photograph it?

Will do that.

Relay no 429 isn't giving a resistance reading between 85 and 86 however, between 86 and 86a I get a reading.

Any idea what 429 relay does

The only way to know 100% what these relays do is to know the VIN and the position it is/was fitted in the relay panel.

These three are the main ones to focus on.

I think the one you have with an 86a terminal is probably the engine ECU relay from position 13, which has a diode between terminal 86 and the coil but not from 86a to coil, explaining your measurements.

Fuel pump relay, which is the one that may not be OK, is in position 14.

Fuel feed relay in position 10.1 is the one that provides a short run of the fuel pump when the driver's door is opened, after the car has been unopened for half an hour or more.

There you go. Hope you can help me with the right fuse diagram and circuits for this. I owe you a pack of beer if not more.

Your car was built on 1st October 2009, and has CEVA engine code.

The circuit relating to fuel pump and the two relays involved is exactly as in @Jocko's post a few pages (and months) back. So fuse 30 is the correct one.  Actually a much clearer presentation of the involved circuit than the manufacturer's own diagrams. Is that from Autodata?

Do you get fuel pump activation when you open the driver's door for the first time?  If you do, that would confirm that the wiring to the pump from the fuse is OK.

I extended the battery wire upto fuel pump connector and now getting reading of 12v in 3 connectors and nothing on the blue connector. What does this mean. Does the blue connector come on only when we crank?

Will wait for diagrams. The wiper comes on the timemi put key in ignition and can't locate the fuse no to switch it off.

No the fuel pump does not activate when I open the door. At some point I did get an reading of fuel level in tank but that has vanished.

What I get now is voltage in 3 pin in the fuel pump connector if connected via battery directly. On its own I get no reading. Did that to confirm connectivity. The blue white cable has no reading

You will just have to work with Jocko's diagram, checking continuity of wires between the various points, especially fuse 30 terminal to fuel pump terminal (the blue/white wire path).

Take out the fuse, use meter on resistance range to measure from pin of blue/white wire at pump connector, to each side of fuse. One side of the fuse position should show zero Ohms to there.

You may need an assistant and possibly an extended meter wire.

The brown/violet wire at the fuel pump connector should go to chassis/earth.

Got that. Will try and do that. I have some clips and a 3 pair wire. Will make some pin connectors and see if that works. In Bombay, DIY is frowned upon so will have no one helping me. Will have to do this solo

This is the diagram I need to follow. Putting it in the thread for ease of reference.
