Anyone any ideas why the 1.9tdi BKC engine starts first time when cold, but struggles when hot ?

 

Camshaft position sensor? Mine has this problem and it's shown as a fault with a vcds scan. Not an expensive part but I'm leaving mine to my mechanic as it involves timings check.

Another vote for the cam sensor, mine was showing faulty on VCDS scans. I got a genuine one from Skoda as I read the aftermarket ones aren't as reliable and I really didn't fancy doing the job twice.

 

Thankfully the cambelt was up for renewal too which made getting to the sensor a lot easier with the belt off. Once the job was done my hot start issues went away.

Thanks I'll try the cam sensor. I did get a bigger battery and that seemed to of helped a lot aswell
