Changing from Fabia 1.2TSI (110) to Scala 1.0TSI (116)

Featured Replies

Hello,

Within the next two weeks we are due to take delivery of a Skoda Scala SEL with the 3 cylinder (116 bhp)TSI  engine.

With some sadness, our 9 year old Fabia will be leaving us and which has proved a reliable, reasonably 'nippy' and frugal mode of transport (Everyday average of around 45 mpg - Mixed driving).

Looking forward to the bigger space and more modern tech of the Scala but was just wondering as to any thoughts/views from those that have been using this engine mated to a much bigger car, along with any real world MPG figures.

Many thanks.

I'm on my second Scala, and with both of them had the 1.0L engine, I find it more than meets my needs. It is more bhp than my old diesel Octavia, which only had 110 bhp, and I couldn't tell the difference.

As for MPG on my last one I could get 60 - 62 on a long motorway journey and around 50 around the doors, my new ones not quite there yet only 7 weeks old.

Humphret,

Many thanks for the reply and the positive feedback on this model.

A lot of the reviews seem to suggest that the 1.0 litre certainly feels and pulls like a much bigger engine and in so doing 'Punches above it's weight' in that regard.

As commented previously, my current Fabia 1.2 TSI (110) has averaged around 45 m.p.g. mostly around town  with a best of around 64 m.p.g. on a long motorway run. I'm hoping the Scala will get somewhere close to that.

Having owned two Scala models yourself, are there any issues that I should be aware of with regards to day to day use of the car?

The only issue I had with the Fabia was having to change the 'Start' ignition button after around 7 years due to it becoming very unreliable in it's use.. The Scala we are buying has a similar keyless system.

Thanks again.

No I've never had any issues with the first one, this one is waiting for an software update from Skoda, which is affecting a lot of the Scala's from the factory, it is to do with the airbag warning light, but that has been it for the moment.
