DIY Service

Featured Replies

I gave the car it's '40K' service the other day and found no issues.

Having now given it a very careful look, I have to say that it is a well-constructed car. Even the oil filter is in a sensible, accessible place:eek: -only 1 small drop of oil onto the floor is a new record for me

The old spark plugs were a little scorched around the insulators although the electrodes were a consistent, healthy colour -It's probably the placebo efect, but the car now feels slightly more responsive.

I still need to sort out the front creaking though. The ARB mountings appeared intact, so I assume it's the link arm.

My ARB Bushes looked OK until I got them out to change them.

They looked more like an egg than a doughnut.

Its a quick and easy job to do and it certainly got rid of the annoying squeak.

Which ARB bushes exactly?

If you look behind the front wheel, you will see the ARB disappear into the engine bay area.

Just as it passes the inner wheel arch area, you will see that the ARB is held in place by a ARB bush and clamp.

The clamp is held on with 1 bolt only and the bushes are split, so that you can get them over the ARB.

I replaced mine with powerflex bushes, they come with a lubricant, this helps fitting and also the noise.

cheers, they were the ones I looked at. Where did you get the Powerflex ones from?

I did a 'Google' for them, but I can't remember who I finally bought from, they came next day in the post.

There are quite a few suppliers on the net, or do a search on here.

I think one on the Briskoda advertisers sells them.

Try this entry in our Links section. It's amazing what you can find there!
