2024 Selection Model F5 Control Unit Fault

Featured Replies

Picked up a new 2024 Selection model and was driving it fine for a week. Received Rear Traffic Alert, Vehicle Exit Warning, Park Pilot Malfunction & Dynamic Road Sign Display related errors on Wed evening. It also disabled the Infortainment screen which was unresponsive.

Brought it back to the Škoda Dealer I’d just bought it off & they said it’s related to a malfunction on the F4 Central Control Unit & part needs to be ordered.

As it’s the new model, a part isn’t showing up yet so God knows how long the wait will be.

Not a happy camper !

Anyone else encounter a similar issue ?

I saw a previous post of an F5 recall back in 2017/18.

Welcome.  Are you still driving it or are Skoda UK providing a replacement car until the fault is fixed?

I've been advised not to drive it and I'm awaiting a replacement car.

Actually based in Ireland so it's Skoda Ireland needs to provide the replacement.

Car has been documented as "Vehicle Off Road" so marked as high priority according to the garage but they can't give me an estimated time of when the Part will be in.

The Unit is actually 5F, and not F4 as originally stated !

I have had the exact same problem. They say the fault is with the sensor unit at the rear view mirror.  It used to be a radar sensor but now is a camera unit that controls the functions of road sign detection, lane departure warning etc. My new kodiaq is back in the garage and i have a replacement car. They dont know when a replacment part will be available..not happy...

hi DTS1...have you had any timeframe yet for replacement part for.your new kodiaq ? I am still waitimg to hear

Hi Marietta….No nothing back yet. It occurred last Tuesday night and they have been aware since Wed 17th with no timeframe provided. When did your issue arise and how long are you waiting to hear ?

My issue occurred on 15th...still waiting to hear re a timeframe on the replacement part...I did contact Skoda Ireland directly to complain etc...they have actually been quite helpful actually...I feel thus might hurry things on a bit

How did you contact Škoda Ireland as I completed a feedback form on their website and heard nothing back.

How did they respond to say they were helpful ?

Did you receive a like for like replacement car ? Enterprise Rentals had a Peugeot 3008 for me.

As to the New / Replacement parts.

The Factory have them, they are building new cars for new customers while people that have already bought the cars and they received payment for them whistle.

If anyone wants a Like for Like Courtesy car than tell Skoda in your country to provide one.

Dealership Principal Dealers and others are driving top of the range cars that Skoda / VW still own, none of them have to drive a Peugeot 3008.

If anyone wants a Peugeot 3008 then fair enough.     Too many let them take the total p!$$.        They seem to forget who is the customer and who,s job is as a service provider.

Well said Ootohere.

Returned car to the garage on the 17th July and was told the part arrived to the garage today so the replacement is being worked on as we speak.

I'll have been without the car for 2 weeks if i receive back tomorrow.

Did you get your car back Marietta ?

Not yet..i have been advised that the replacement part has been dispatched so hopefully will jear something soon

Marietta

Hi dts..did you get your car fixed yet ? Sounded from your last post that you were hopeful you might get it back today. The spare part has arrived in my skoda garage so they hoping to fix my car in the next day or so..fingers crossed

Hi Marietta. Yes received the car back today. It took 15 days overall from start to finish. They don’t fill you with hope originally but wasn’t too long a wait after all. Hopefully there won’t be any more issues now.

My car still not fixed..this is now becoming farcical

Have they given you an estimated time, Marietta ?

Feel free to DM me and i can give you some more detail but it took 15 days in total.

Did you complain privately to Skoda Ireland as well ?

If your part arrived in the garage last Thursday 1st August, surely it's a priority to turn around and get the car back to you ! That's v bad out of them.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just got a similar issue. Side assist, front assist, passenger assist and lane assist are all unavailable on my new Kodiaq. I hope it's just a software bug like on this superb:

But after seeing this thread, I'm not so hopeful.

Nope ! The 5F Control Unit had to be replaced and ordered from HQ.
15 day turnaround in total for me.

Having audio issues since whereby a song might clitch anything up to 20 times with audio fading in & out.

Quite annoying and waiting on Diagnosis guy to return from holiday !!

  • 1 month later...

have 8 week old kodiak with same problem.

they have reset it once already but gone again now and waiting for appointment to look at it again.

is it safe to keep driving with these safety features gone ?

my info screen is working ok.

Did they replace the Control Unit ? That’s what my garage said they did and not to drive it. Had to order it in. Infotainment system was fully blank !

no they did not replace it.

also no tow bar available until nearly December.

With a new Kodiaq due for delivery in November, I find it slightly concerning that this error with the driving safety features seems to be quite common - multiple reports on here, another forum and on Reddit.

It’s a bit of a worry that I may have the same issues come November.

Does it only affect Kodiaqs with the optional “driver assistance packs” or potentially any 2024 Kodiaq?

my kodiak is the base model

so the assistance pack is standard.they may sort it by
november,who knows.

I ordered the base model so looks like I may have the issue.

Surely if there is an issue with software or components, they would be looking to rectify it instead of continuing to send new vehicles out with a fault?

Wel this doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Mine is due for backend of October delivery, so fingers crossed it doesn’t suffer the same fate.

It would be impossible for Skoda to provide a replacement as I use custom made hand controls.
