I have a 2015 Škoda Octavia G-Tec (the weird version with CNG)

 

Škoda has stopped releasing Updates for this model, the newest being only 2020.

 

I went to the dealer only to find out that I would need to replace the whole Infotainment system (costs 3000 Euro) which is absurd.

 

Now, the actual question:

Is there any way to either get Android Auto/ Phone Mirroring to work on the car or a way to get a newer map?

Sounds like you have a MIB1 (map updates stopped in 2020 5 years after last used in production which was mid 2015), which cannot support AA or CarPlay. The only option is to upgrade the screen and Glovebox unit to a MIB2, best plan is to contact @pab567 who can usually help at better than dealer prices.

i have 2012 octavia diesel mk2 (?) ,i removed the head unit as i couldnt update maps and wanted reverse camera ,i bought android head fitted

with reverse camera .. after 12 months i was not happy with android so changed back to original collumbus head !! surprise surprise it powered up with much updated maps i have now fitted a 5inch reverse screen in the dash comartment right of steering wheel (rhdrive ) which folds away when not in use ,,

The Mk2 infotainment systems are completely different to the Mk3 systems.
