Infotainment SD player metadata V filename for order

Featured Replies

I updated my Infotainment system last year thanks to this forum to MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0480T.7z.

I have mp3 downloads from my vinyl purchases on the SD card. Unfortunately, some of these have the file name with no leading zeros and the tracks show as 1..., then 11... rather than 2, etc.

I was looking at renaming the files and learned that modern players now control this via metadata/tags rather than the filename. But it seems that the infotainment SD card player does not support that.

So my only option is to rename the files?

I can confirm that tags do not work in the player, having updated some mp3 files with mp3tag to include tags and the file still play in filename order.

You are right, MP3 Tags are not used to order the tracks. Good practice is to name the files 01-xxx, 02-xxx etc etc.

Yes, my mp3s are all official downloads, unfortunately, the record companies have not conformed to this convention and I have to go through them to update.
