Dash Rattle / Vibration / Buzz

Featured Replies

My July 24 Karoq has got an annoying trait - I can go for miles without problem and then all of a sudden a high frequency vibration buzz is emitted from somewhere around the drivers side centre vent.

It sounds like a small screw or similar is rattling on a tray.

A little bit of pressing / pressure applied to the area generally fixes it for a while.

I can’t replicate it, even by driving the same stretch of road, so I know how my complaint will be greeted by the dealer.

Question, anyone know how to remove the vent from the facia?

Check it really is that. I had a noise a while back which appeared to be trim related around the glove box but couldn't pin it down. Turned out to be my spare glasses case moving in the overhead pocket. Discovered it by emptying out all the door pockets and other cubby holes one by one.

Mine does similar. I recon it is the bezel around the clocks. If I pres on the edge of the bezel on the right hand side, it stops.

I just need to figure out how to get the bezel out without wrecking the dash.

Is it temperature related - a plastic part is contracting or expanding slightly and vibrating? Silicon spray along the joint might help. My 1984 Austin Maestro was notorious for doing this - very annoying.

Mine comes and goes, could be temperature dependant, though I'm not sure of any pattern - if I apply slight pressure in the area indicated it sometimes disappears, though not always........

Don't think it is particularly a temp related vibration. Mind does it hot or cold, intermittently I must add, making it frustrating to track down. The question I have is, how difficult is it to remove the bazel/surround on the instrument panel because I bet I would be able to identify where the vibration is once the surround is out. There will, I am sure,  be fret marks where there is rubbing. Just looking for a removal method that doesn't wreck my dash.

😀🤬 I had a rattle / vibration for weeks, eventually found it to be my glasses case in the ceiling 🙄

I know it is not this in my situation. The cubby is empty. Though I do have to keep telling my other half to not put her house keys in the passenger door pocket because they make din which she seems oblivious to.
