Hello all! 

I would like some advice if possible please?!

I have been getting the flashing glow plug light and severely reduced power everytime I drive. If I turn the engine off and on it resets and drives fine for a minute or so then goes back to the same issues. I took the car to a Skoda dealer and they ran diagnostics on it and came back with the codes listed in the picture attached and have said I need a new EGR Valve installed. I know that with my model of Fabia, 1.6 Elegance TDI its a pig of a job and I've been quoted over £1000 from the Skoda dealer and other garages... that's insane money. I haven't gotten it checked by other garages yet but are the codes indicative of warranting a brand new Valve installation or can sensors just be replaced instead?

So what you're saying in essence is:

 

"Doctor you say my leg really painful because it's broken, can't you just paralyze the nerves so I don't feel it any more?"

Changing the valve unit itself is an involved job, no question. If however the dealership has quoted £1000 then an independent will be cheaper.

 

It is a fairly common issue on the 1.6 so it's unlikely getting the second opinion is going to provide a different answer unfortunately.
