Possible airbag-module problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I took my car (Skoda Octavia 2021 mk4) to a local service, because almost every possible light instrument panel has, such as travel assist, acc, front assist and airbag light was giving error every time i start the car. The service only read the fault codes and said that the car airbag module might be broken. The repair should cost about 1000 euros, if not more. There is no warranty left on the car. Has anyone ever had a similar fault and what caused it?

thanks

Not sure if it's related but I had something similar happen to mine. I had it booked with a month delay to be seen and it repeatedly started to occur.

The error message for me was "protective occupant system failed" with an airbag graphic on the infotainment when looking at the error there, along with auto hold errors, front assist etc.

A couple of days before I went in, it turned out my battery was failing and it got replaced under warranty. I haven't seen a single error for around 4-5 months now.

An ailing battery will cause a variety of electronic gremlins such as those described, so a good place to start. I've had the same occur with two other cars of different brands, it's not just a Skoda thing.

Have you ever found the solution?

I had the same issue. Airbag module was actually faulty and it was exchanged under warranty.
