New Columbus Nav system--- HELP!

Featured Replies

Having just acquired a November  2023 Octavia eTEC, I am having enormous trouble with the nav system, which compared to my previous Mk3 claims to be far cleverer than it really is.

To start with I would like to put a copy of the digital manual on my ipad to read while looking at the damn thing but I can't find where to get a copy.

A few basic facilitieis I am having issue with - I like to have the current speed limit displayed on the map, but can't see where to turn it on.

A lot of places of significance to me (including my own house) don't have a standard street address, and having found it can't see  way to edit it to replace the lat and long with a name.

Simlarly how do you tell it to store a destination  and categorise it as a favourite.

Some of this is perhaps basic once you know where to look, but that's the first problem!

Any pointers would be welcome!

Speed limit display on map has appeared anyway. Maybe I was sitting in area with no data? Does it get the info from GPS like previous one or camera reading signs?

Thanks. I already had the online manual but don't see  way to save an offline copy to use when out of wifi range.  Anyway, finally figured out how to name the offroad locations, it appears it can only be done by saving as a favourite, when you can give it a name.

Is there a particular reason why you want a copy of the online manual rather than, say, the PDF of the physical manual?

I only ask because I downloaded the iV manual -- not a version of the online one, but a PDF of the physical manual (which contains links that help one to navigate through it) -- back in May 2022. (I bought and collected the car -- new, not second-hand -- in November 2023; it had arrived at the dealer on the November day I was having my Mk.3 serviced and MOT'd.) So far, I haven't found anything different between it and the paper version that came with the car (fingers crossed that this continues to be the case).

I can't recall from where I downloaded the PDF (looking for it just now seems to only point me at the online version), but someone might know. Obviously, my manual doesn't cater for the e-TEC, and as it's 27 Meg, I couldn't upload it here even if it had been of use to you, as the upload limit here is 10 Meg. But perhaps someone has done what I did, but for an eTEC, and can still recall where they got the file from.

Only because I haven't found a .pdf version either so far.  They DO provide a paper manual but at quite a lot of points it's indicated that a topic can only be found in the digital version of the manual, and I haven't been able to find a way to take that out to the car while I am trying to figure something out.
