Errr... Maybe I don't understand what you're expecting, but it sounds like what you're asking is more or less Autohold function. 🤷‍♂️

With Autohold ON, handbrake automatically activates upon engine switch off if gear lever is in P position.

 

I don't use Auto Hold, it doesn't suit me when scrolling slowly. Here is more of a question when the autohold is switched off, when I shift into position P, is it possible for the handbrake to be applied automatically.

Is this because the brake doesn't release smoothly when you want to restart and gives you the impression that brake pads are stuck?

If yes, this can be adjusted with VCDS, with an "early brake release" instead of "normal". I've done this mod on mine. It really changes the car behavior at trafic lights or stop signs.

Otherwise, sorry, I don't have the solution for you to activate handbrake automatically when gear lever is in P position. 😐

Ak áno, dá sa to nastaviť pomocou VCDS s „predčasným uvoľnením brzdy“ namiesto „normálneho“. Urobil som tento mod na mojom. Skutočne mení správanie auta na semaforoch alebo stopkách.

Inak prepáčte, nemám pre vás riešenie, ako automaticky aktivovať ručnú brzdu, keď je radiaca páka v polohe P.  😐

Bap, many thanks for clearing this up and provide this info, extremely useful. I am also buggered by the sometimes "brusque" release of the autohold.

When I am manouvering, I exclude it altogether sometimes. I will try the coding ....hopefully will stick to a FL.

check the current fuel consumption on the display, all depends on model.

i have many times read, D + Auto Hold must be same as N,

but that doesn't refers to my 2.0 TSI 280ps DSG7 DQ351,

where i can feel strong load to the engine when standing in D, no matter of Auto Hold state

consumption in N is dancing around 1.1 liters/hour, while in D/E around 1.5 l/h

 

as result, for 1 minute + red lights i simply move to N

and Auto Hold is always Off, to avoid annoying bongs at move D->N
