Buying my first Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi there, as the title says I’m buying my first Skoda (and car in general) tomorrow. It’s a Mk3 Octavia 1.4tsi 2013 at 64k miles, 1 owner. The dealership threw in a cambelt replacement and water pump replacement in the price so they’re checked off, but just wanting to know what else to look out for with this car. Thanks everyone!

On a 1.4TSI the DSG will be a dry clutch 7 speed DQ200, problem reports on that combination are rare.

I have the DQ200 with the 1.8TSI currently on over 65,000 miles with no problems (touch wood!).

The are pretty reliable, front suspension arm rear bushes wear quite quickly. Check for any oil around where the engine meets the gearbox as oil can leak past the flywheel. Make sure the service history adds up, spark plugs at 40k. It's an 11 year old car now now anything could go wrong tbh, coils springs etc but the dealer should have checked that stuff.
