Import Octavia from UK to Ireland

Featured Replies

Any of the Irish Briskodians bring in their Skoda from the UK in to Ireland?

I'm thinking of doing it with a 05 Octavia, but I'd like the speedo to read kilometres only. Is it an expensive change or are the km on the speedo legible enough not to bother with?

You'll have to change the dash pod completely. Fairly expensive. Besides you'll have to pay VRT on the car when you bring it over. Its way cheaper to buy a second hand one over here.

I also was under the impression the Irish cars are cheaper, the pre VRT price is less than the UK AFAIK. Are you in the UK, will you have to pay VRT ??? What about selling the UK one over their and buying one for Cash here.

Peter at logicautomotive.ie can convert your dash.

cars can definitely be brought in cheaper from the UK. Used that is with a specific spec. Of course VRT would need to be paid, but it's not that much. There are bargains to be had. If you're not bothered about spec and just want a skoda, Ireland is cheaper.

Agree. You can get very high spec cars in the UK and pay the VRT bringing them in line with the irish prices of base models.

Theres supposed to be a VRT calculator on the Revenue website AFAIK.

the new VRS isnt on the revenue web site calculator yet!!! But if i remember correctly, when i spoke to the revenue about it and they worked it out you were only saving a few hundred euro by the time you paid the VRT!!.....saving are only really made when you buy a top of the range exspensive motor and the VRT is calculated on the base model:( have tried every angle myself to save some money on a new car from the uk but so far its just not worth the hassel!!

k:)
