Washer bottle pump/s

Featured Replies

My Octavia 2.0D estate 2017 (67 reg) has stopped squirting water onto the screen and having checked the forum it looks to be a simple swap job, or so I thought.

I purchased a new pump from euro car parts as Skoda wanted £90 plus the cost of the seal on top of that.

I stripped it back ready to change the pump and saw that there are not one but two pumps in my washer bottle, despite the dealer saying, this is the one for your car. How do I know which one needs changing? All I could do is swap one like for like and still have nothing working if the other doesn't work.

My car has headlight washers and I'm wondering if it still doesn't work after swapping the one I have, I'll have to take the other pump off and see if ECP has one in that is the same.

Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

From memory, the leaking rusty one you have does front windscreen and rear.

The separate one to the left is headlights.

Correct, the larger capacity one is for the headlights, the one with 2 outlets is front and rear screen pump.

Thank you RoddersUK, the new one I have is the replacement for the rusty one.

Cheers J.R., I'll have to replace the rusty one first and hopefully it'll fix the issue.

Thanks for the info.

Quick update to say that the replacement pump from ECP has done the job, the front and back washers are both working again.

The pump came with a new rubber grommet/seal fitted and I noticed that when I fitted the pump with the seal on the pump it didn't quite seat all the way down, so I drew it back out, took the seal off the pump, fitted the seal into the hole in the bottle, then fitted the pump into the seal and it was all nice and flush.

I've added a picture and I'll be checking with ECP and the dealer for availability and price for the headlight washer pump in case that starts acting up.

Thanks again for your help 👍

That is the correct way of fitting a sealing grommet in that instance.

It's fun when the grommet falls into the washer bottle 🤣

I'll take your word for it lol

It wasn't fun trying to get a bucket under the plume of screen wash solution when I pulled the old pump out, it went all over the shop 😂🤣😂🤣but I caught the most of it 👍
