SKODA SUPERB SPORTLINE 2.0 tdi TENSIONER

Featured Replies

Hi guys I have a Skoda superb Sport line 2.0tdi 2018

Timing belt tensioner keeps snapping (twice within a week)

Any ideas on what it could be?

(mechanic is struggling to find out what’s gone wrong )

Welcome.

Do you mean the original 6 year old tensioner gave up and the replacement mechanic fitted failed also?

Was the Cam Belt ok first time and re-used or was that replaced?

Was the water pump replaced?

No idea but people that know about engines will be along hopefully.

Hi yes they both failed which the mechanic fitted

yes the timing belt and water pump was replaced both times

Were the camshafts checked, could they be seized?

Any video of the tensioner without the cover on and the engine running? Wanna see if its jumping about

"Snapping" in what way, tensioner spring? Pulley?

What are the symptoms when it supposedly snaps?

Have I read it right that the original tensioner did not fail but both the new ones fitted by the mechanic did?

Have you had to pay for 2 water pumps etc?

I read the post as saying - original tensioner failed, then the replacement tensioner failed within a week - Is that correct @Dannh ?
