Škoda Scala as a high mileage car

Featured Replies

Is Škoda Scala good car if you plan to use it for many years and you drive a lot (mostly highways)?

I understand that usually people buy diesel engine cars like Octavia, if they are planning on using car for long trips.

Is Scala a bad choice, if i wish and expect car to last at least 10 years and at least 300-350 thousands kilometers? Im talking about 1.5 tsi engine with 150 hp.

Does anyone knows a Scala with high mileage? The car is relatively young, so most of those that are sold as used vehicel dont have much more than 100-200 thousand kilometers on odometer...

The car as in brakes, suspension, steering, door seals and the rest will be just the same as any other Skoda or VW Group models with the same parts, as will the  1.5 TSI ACT engine.

They have been used 7 years now.

The mess they made around 2018 with getting the WLTP is sorted out,  sadly now some report from newish ones the 'cutting out' issue.

Taxi and private hire drivers around here are much more likely to buy Octavias or even Superbs than Scalas. This "poll" represents hundreds of drivers across 4 local authorities, including Greater Glasgow.

That is true, but i think perhaps it is also because of the bigger trunk capacity, which is a very important thing for taxi's

Lots of Taxi / Private hire cars around Glasgow / Renfrew etc were 1.6 TDI Skoda.   (Lets not mention Organised Crime Groups and their Taxi Businesses and Skoda cars.)

Lots of Rapids were and are used as taxis. with whatever engine.

The Scala has been available on UK roads since Spring 2019, so only a relatively short 5 year period to assess it's long term durability.

Autotrader currently has 4 Scalas listed for sale with over 90,000 miles on the clock, all of which are 1.0tsi petrol models. One has 117,000 miles recorded.

This engine variant appears to be the most popular judged by the remainder of cars for sale at present.

Within the past 2 months I have purchased a low mileage 1.0 litre (110hp) Scala and which is nearly as economical as our old Fabia with the 1.2TSI (110) engine, albeit the Scala has only three cylinders.

The fact that several of these models have clocked up nigh on 100,000 miles should give some peace of mind to those considering it as a long term prospect.

Hope this helps.
