Do The TDI's burn much oil?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just bought an Octavia 2015 TID 2.0 and the dipstick indicates the oil level is half way between the min and max lines. I'm not planning on servicing the car until the new year because it's just been serviced.

However do the TID's burn much oil?

If so I'll get a litre bottle ready for top-ups when needed!

Thanks,

Graeme

My 1.6 doesn't need topping up between services.

I reckon you need about half that bottle to get towards max. Don’t risk running it low

Thanks for your replies.

Is there a brand of oil which is preferred by Skoda owners for the diesel engines or is it just a case of whatever you can get so long as it meets the specs?

My 2016 2.0 TDI oil level drops to just above the middle of the dipstick after around 10k miles.

Quantum oil is the VW brand oil, but as long as it meets the spec it will be ok.

VW 507 00 is the spec you need, this long life oil can be used under long life service regime or fixed interval (10k).
