timing belt renewal, 2016.

Featured Replies

hi guys ive recently bought a 2016 octavia scout, its showing 115000 miles, drives really well, looks great,

the timing belt was changed in 2020 at 55,000 miles, so im guessing its due a change now,

are there any recommendations for garages around glasgow, that i should be using.

many thanks jim

Probably not due a change.

Hello Jim, welcome to the forum.

Are you aware that Skoda UK no longer state 5 year replacement intervals for cambelts?

What engine? Might help to add that as they might be different. The 1.6 tdi is a 140,000 miles or something. No idea on the 2L though or the petrols.

The 1.8 and 2.0 petrols don't have a cambelt, they have a chain.

The smaller 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.5 petrols all have the new extended interval - and as the water pump is on the opposite end of the engine do NOT require that to be changed at the same time!

I own a 2016 Scout as well(engine code: CUPA) and my official Skoda dealer says at 210.000km/130.000miles and my regular independant garage also says at 210.000km/130.000miles. My car is now closing in on that so I will soon have that done(belts + waterpump etc) If it's not included in the kit I'll have them changing the thermostat in the same go, because why not.
