Drive mode having no effect

Featured Replies

Just purchased a 2017 octavia tdi from a Skoda dealer. The drive mode selection appears to be working but is having no noticeable effect on the steering or throttle response. I test drove another octavia and the change was clearly noticeable. Anyone experienced this?

What engine size, manual or auto?

Shamelessly bumping this thread in case anyone has any thoughts. Drove the car a bit more now and it does seem that putting it in eco mode does limit the power but no noticeable change to the steering when changing from eco/normal to sport mode. This is bugging me as I find the steering a bit light for my tastes. I have a 1 year Skoda warranty so will probably get them to look at it. Anyone experienced this or have any insight as to a possible cause?

Do you have DCC, dynamic chassis control?

I think you'll only find the steering changes with that.

From what I read DCC is an option and not fitted to many. I'm pretty sure all mk3 Octavias have the drive mode options irrespective of trim. Just wondering if there's something up with my steering system.

@joe77 A previous keeper could well have been disabled or just wanted more Steering Assistance.

Like brake assistance, Traction Control and other things, like an engine remap adjustments can be made from the Factory Setting or choices and maybe not Returned to Factory Settings.

Happens with car from MOTABILITY regularly.  Adjusted for the driver when new, run for 3 years, serviced and mot,d before hand back and going to auction and not Reset to Factory Option.

Or just the same with people like maybe come to Briskoda and ask how to code something, then punt a car as they had it set.

Re LIGHT STEERING.

Often that is Tyres fitted or pressures run that can be the issue.

Like running an ECO Tyre pressure.  Or the Summer tyres of what ever type, then change tyres, fir all-seasons and the steering feeling changes.

Interesting.  Thanks for the input. I'll mention the reset possibility when I approach the dealer. I'm guessing it's something they'd have to do.

I had the same problem as  you, steering too light for my liking .I now have drive mode set to individual . It adds a bit of weight to the steering without altering any thing else .

Individual drive mode has a setting screen (accessed by "Change" IIRC), have you changed the settings in that screen?

Nope.  DCC and steering response are separate.
