Infotainment system

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, newbie here and wondering if anyone could help.  I have a 2023 Monte Carlo 1.5 TSI which I purchased from new (my first ever new car 🤗). I absolutely love it but every now and again the infotainment system screen just turns off, goes blank and then shows the date as 1970!
If I turn car the off and on again it goes back to normal or if I cannot stop and just carry on driving again, it switches itself back on again as normal.  It sometimes does it when I put car into reverse as if the camera isn’t connecting.  The first time it happened I was shocked as it makes quite a loud noise when turning off.  I’ve only just done 3,500 miles and everything else is fine, no problems at all.
Has anyone else had similar problems?
Thanks in advance and any info I’d be grateful for.

Would suggest you go into "settings" and try a system reset. If that doesn't work a trip to your Skoda dealer to sort it out would seem the best plan. If it's a new car I would think the warranty should cover any defects ?

Thankyou, I’ll give that a try but reading through posts last night it looks like it’s a common thing!

A 2024 long-term review of a Fabia Mk 4 included the following comment

There are justifiable criticisms to level at Skoda for the cabin tech. Menus within other unfathomable menus coupled with infrequent but frustrating glitches aren’t the quality I’d expect from a VW Group brand – especially one that, in other ways, has shown itself so future-forward.

As you've gathered, the touchscreen-display infotainment systems fitted to recent Skoda, Seat and VW cars have gained a reputation for 'gliltchiness' never mind being bloody-minded and user-unfriendly.

As your Fabia will be under warranty, I strongly advise you to take your car to a Skoda dealership and complain about the issues you are having. There may be a firmware/software update available that the dealer can install and that may sort out the problems, but, if you try to fix it yourself by resetting the system, you may end up worse than before.

Thank you, I’m not going to touch it myself!  I can see it’s a problem throughout so I think I’ll pop into the Skoda dealership and ask them etc.  Only problem is the 2 nearest to me don’t have very good reviews!  I can live with it, doesn’t happen all the time but as it’s under warranty I’ll check with them anyway.  Many thanks.

  • 1 year later...

I have had my Fabia Monte Carlo from new 12 months, and have always had intermittant issues with the infotainment screen.

Usually the touch screen doesn't work, or you press any button and it selects the Radio.

Also, it's like it's locked so I can't answer or make calls, look at Google Maps ( I use Android Auto)

I have been to the Main Dealer 5 times, have had the touchscreen replaced and it is still having issues. Apparently a part is on order from Germany which should have been here back end of last year and still no progress.

Has anyone else had issues like this? The car is on PCP so I'm thinking of just stopping the payments and handing the car back for a refund!!

Someone on here recommended holding the on/off button in for about 30 seconds. It seems to have done the trick and very rarely happens now. Funnily enough it only happens now when I’m coming out of a Sainsbury’s carpark so I’m trying to shop elsewhere!!
