Hi, 
I have a Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI 4x4 2018 and I have an issue with my car, when the engine is warm, intermittently fails to start like in the video below. Also when the engine is cold, it starts harder, but not every time.

I will attach the log file from vag-com.

Do you have any idea what could be causing it?

Late reply to OP - but displayed 'one fault found 10763' P1734 would be an obvious start point to check.

Also recall that failing crankshaft position sensor can often be cause of difficult, or failed start - the TDI can also be very sensitive to slow cranking speed.

There seem to be three reported errors:

 

The transmission seems to occassionally think you haven't started the car in Park.  If you start it in Neutral, try to get into the habit of starting in Park.

 

The only other issues are:

 

1) The Heated Steering wheel is complaining that its tempertature sensor is faulty.  Suspect that either the sensor or the steering wheel heating element is faulty.

2) There is a management issue with the low voltage electrics. The car's strategy is sometimes struggling with the energy management requirements - this is most often caused by a failing battery.  If you haven't done already, please do a CCA test on the battery and if the capacity of the battery in low, replace the battery.

Also, crankshaft position sensor is somewhat common to cause no start/hard start. I'm on my third sensor.

 

And if I recall right, up to 2015-2016 there was kind of oil pressure bank (small vessel) for the vvt system in the TDI's causing the same problem. Often with some sort of crankshaft position related fault codes.

 

 

I only now watched the video in OP's post. I had exactly the same behavior with faulty crankshaft sensor, especially with warm engine. It sometimes registered intermitten error about the crankshaft position but it also clears fast by itself.

I used to own a Seat Leon with the 2.0tdi engine (CUPA) and there is a known cranking issue with the CUNA/CUPA engines in the VAG family. 

I could sometime try and start it and nothing would happen. Leave it for a few minutes and it would crank straight away. There's plenty of information online about it and there's to my knowledge not a "definitive" fix for it.

Mine sometimes fires then cuts straight out when warm, not all the time, only fault saying is the starter enable one but it starts then cuts out ?

Yes, I solved it, but I didn't post any solution because no one answered me anyway. I assumed that my car was the one and only :)) 

 

I went to the dealership and changed some sensors (in vain), the Camshaft and the crankshaft, glow plugs, etc... Of course, I paid for the investigation hours + tester (in vain) and sensors (in vain), glow plugs (in vain). I went to 2 more different VAG mechanics, who tried to do all kinds of tests (in vain), but none of this, solved the problem.
My father (who is not a mechanic nor specialist) saw how the car was doing (he has a 2016 Passat) and took the battery from the Passat and put it in my Skoda and vice versa. I went with the Skoda for tests, and it didn't reproduce anymore. I went with the Passat, and the problem was reproduced in the same way on the Passat.

My father's explanation (who is not a specialist or mechanic) was that the battery was no longer able to support the current when starting when it was warm.

 

I have replaced the battery since the end of September, and I don't have any issues like that :)

 

I hope you guys will solve the issue in the same way.

Thank you man! The battery was the issue

 

Curious is that the dealership and 2 different mechanics didn't find the issue, but of course, I paid for the diagnose and what they changed (Camshaft and the crankshaft, glow plugs, etc).

 

My father (who is not a mechanic nor specialist) saw how the car was doing (he has a 2016 Passat) and took the battery from the Passat and put it in my Skoda and vice versa. I went with the Skoda for tests, and it didn't reproduce anymore. I went with the Passat, and the problem was reproduced in the same way on the Passat.

 

For the 1st error, Heated Steering wheel, I still receive this error, but the Heated Steering wheel is working very well. I understand from another topic that this is a common issue. I want to change the Steering wheel to a Heated one with gear shift paddles, but I don't know if I only need to change the Steering wheel and code some stuff or if I need to replace some other stuff.  if someone know?

Mine might be a little different then as I will do an hour drive, stop then it fires up and cuts out. Would not have thought it would be battery if it's been running for an hour and it starts when cold every single time
