Has anyone any idea on what could be causing this. The noise increases with throttle and lessens without throttle ( when coasting) thanks

Down on power?

 

Hi Smokey, no its not smoking or down on power. I'm a cabbie and spoke to someone today who said he'd heard of similar about others with the same engine. They think it might be to do with the hi low fuel pump washing the pistons. Going to get someone to get a bore probe to take a look at the pistons. If two are black (with carbon) and two are shiny  (washed out) then that looks like the problem!
