Child lock

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Only got my Mk iii Octavia yesterday. It's a 2019 diesel that I'm using as a taxi. It's quite important for me to use a child lock sometimes. I can't actually find a child lock button anywhere inside the car? I see a padlock one which is central locking. Is there an actual child lock button anywhere inside the car please?

There is no button, it's a mechanical system from the rear doors...

Isn't that pathetic, having no child lock button FFS?

It's no different to many other cars from various manufacturers so no, not particularly pathetic IMO :)

Comments like the above with or without the swearing abbreviations are worthy of being labelled pathetic.

A stranger on the internet has helped them find the solution to what is an important problem to them and that is the thanks they get

You're the pathetic one. Child locks have been mechanical for as long as I can remember. It used to be a little lever. I guess requiring the key to operate it prevents it being knocked accidently into the unlocked position.

I'm just used to having a button in the Mondeo I was driving. Must have been an added luxury I suppose

I seem to recall that an electronic child lock button may have been an option on some models - the Superb and Kodiaq I believe - but they're not standard fit.
