2018 Karoq 1.6TDI DSG issues?

Featured Replies

I hope someone could advise based on what they're seeing in the video attached (apologies for the shaky nature!)

We recently bought the car second hand with 85k kilometers, it has the DQ200 which I've since learned is the least reliable of the DSG boxes, does this look like clutch slip or some other gearbox related issue?

The video is filmed with the car left in 5th gear with about half throttle applied at approx 90-100km/h to produce a high load on the engine/gearbox to induce any possible clutch slip.

Thanks in advance.

Doesn’t look right to me - if it feels like clutch slip then……. -does it behave the same in 4th or 6th?

Thanks for your help. It doesn't seem to do it any other gear but I'd have to test it again to be sure.

Welcome.

Holding it in M5 might well be the reason it is behaving as it is.

Even though you are doing it just to show us what is concerning you.

Thanks. Ok, I'll have a read through that thread but is it safe to say something isn't right, even if it isn't clutch slip?

I’m no expert but I think 1 3 5 7 & 2 4 6 use separate clutch workings - I recall a work associate having to drive his DSG manually using just every other gear…….?

I don’t think holding in a particular gear would induce what we see in your video clip…I often use 4th on long twisty climb, never experienced any noticeable problem.

I'll need to do a bit more testing but I only noticed it in 5th when recording those clips.

My question would be does it behave like this when left in normal D or S mode? Our Fabia with DQ200 DSG exhibits a similar behaviour, albeit at low rpm,  when trying to creep slowly into the garage, without any movement of the accelerator the revs will rise without any movement of the car, then they revs drop the clutch engages the car moves the clutch disengages the revs rise. Its intermittent, and has always done it.

It happens in both D and S modes.

I did a bit more testing today and I can get it to repeat in 3rd & 5th gear which I believe use the same clutch.

Back to the dealer I go..
