On my Karoq with Powered tailgate I used a strap on bike rack to transport my e-bike. It worked perfectly once I'd learnt to disable automatic braking while reversing. Obviously I never tried opening the tailgate while it was attached. 

Does anyone know if I can use this with my 2024 FE Estate? I spotted something in the manual that said a bike rack shouldn't be attached but I haven't been able to believe a word in the manual when I've been trying to find how to do something so I'm prepared to ignore that.

EDIT - Just realised this doesn't actually answer your question - but if Thule are producing a product that does the same thing, it's gotta be worth a try.
