Looking at info on IV

Mainly mpg realistically I commute 40 mile to work and return.

Reliability compared to diesel petrol.

I have just come from a 23 octavia vrs tsi so obviously gonna feel diff but I need something cheaper but more comftsbke on the terrible roads I use to work.. But no nothing about iv

Looking at budget top 16k been looking at superb estates 19 reg diesel upto 80k for under £16.any info is greatly appreciated

Is that 40 miles each way? Not really worth the added expense of the hybrid car. Better off with a petrol as the battery will drain quickly and then you are left with a petrol car with the benefit of the engine cutting out when coasting.

MPG wise it's very hard to tell. Could be 65. Could be 100 depending on ambient conditions, traffic, road type, speed, how heavy your right foot is, etc. they are more sensitive to driving style than a regular car as far as economy goes.

But, you have the advantage of remote/programmed preheating to avoid scraping ice off. The ability to pop round the corner knowing you don't have to run the engine. In full power mode they are great. If you can make good use of the electric it can make a real impact on fuel costs. Not worked it out but I fill up one every couple of months instead of twice a month (12 miles commute each way).

I have a IV

Your journey is 80 miles between recharges. In summer, I'd get perhaps 33 pure electric, in winter perhaps 27.

Call it 30 miles on average pure EV.

The remaining 50 I'd expect get about another perhaps 5 pure EV, as it recharges a tiny bit for every corner, slowdown, braking.

So you have to find about 45 miles worth of petrol and 30 miles worth of paid for electricity for your journey, if that helps.

Alternatively, the lowest mpg I ever get is about 55mpg overall on a 740 mile run, there and back, so only fully charged at the start.

The other 95% of the time I get from perhaps 65 to 120mpg reported if petrol gets used, depending on whether I'm going 50 miles or 100.

Lot of blah, there.

Summary: reckon at worst you'll get 55mpg plus for your commute, depending on your driving style and actual route. You might see the low sixties easily, and if you are lucky and try, low seventies.

I have a 2021 Superb iV. When at home I always charge it overnight, and get about 30 miles per charge. I can get more, maybe 35+, if I have a light right foot.

I've recently come back from a touring holiday in France, where I did 3000 miles, mostly (maybe 80%) on autoroutes at 70-80MPH, the rest was slower local pottering at 30-40MPH. Over that time I had no way to charge the car, so that distance was done entirely on petrol, with the car usually set to "Sport" mode. I used 282litres, about 62 gallons, giving an average of around 48MPG for pure-petrol running, which I thought was pretty good for a heavy car driven mostly at speed and with no particular attention to driving 'economically'.

Interesting, that. My figures are higher, but then I've only ever pressed the sport button once, and the Mrs complained it was all too whooshy.

I have mine set in a combo of eco and normal under the individual DCC setting.
