Exhaust parts problems

Featured Replies

Hi. I have a 2017  1.0 Rapid SE TSI. The exhaust back box went about 6 weeks ago ( have temporary repair) and I was I advised I also need the central section too. It seems there are no generic parts for this model (not the case with 1.2 and 1.4 I think) and the only option is to buy genuine parts via main dealer.... Except there are none in the UK and dealer advice is that it may be possible to ship from Czechoslovakia with about 10 days process. The parts are expensive , quote is £677. Before I shell this out just wondering if anyone has experienced same or knows if this lack of generic parts is genuine. Thanks in advance

Hello, welcome to the forum.

Have you checked if a specialist supplier can make one for you?

I had the same problem with my 1.2tsi Toledo. I eventually got a backbox from Ebay for £65; the make was Polmo and the part number was 23.00. This doesn't fit your car, but it does show that the parts are out there. You may have to fork out for a lot of postage and get a part from Lithuania or Czech Republic.

Thank you. I've spent a lot of time on eBay and searching scrappers ...  Worth another go though

Thank you. I had no idea this was a thing. Will look into it

Blimey, it's difficult to find the OEM part number isn't it? I think it's 6RA 253 609 AR, which I got from SkodaParts.com. They list a part for €192 + delivery.

There's a Bosal part, number 279-899, which is much cheaper, if you can find one in stock. There's one on the German ebay site:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/365153245703?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=VgcM7jhySkm&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=ddxSj0t-Si6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Might also be the suffix -AS part depending on body shape.

VIN or reg number would enable me to check which.

It really is! Thanks very much, I'd drawn a blank with Skoda parts before but will look again at both of if these. Much appreciated.

Front silencer (mid section) is 6RA 253 209P, £175.50 + VAT.

Rear silencer 6RA 253 609AR £250 + VAT.

Those prices are for genuine, at Skoda dealership parts counters.
