Clicking into this forum gives offer of translation from French to English

Featured Replies

Not sure how else to Report this other than from this post's Report menu option and I don't know if it's just my PC and/or Google Chrome settings but it only happens on this forum.

When I click into this forum I get the (presumably Google Chrome) offer of translation from French to English even though all text is in English so I wonder about the hyperlink.

Suggest you GOOGLE-search on chrome offers to translate english link from french to english

This doesn't happen for me when I access the BRISKODA forums  (I use Chrome and other browsers to do this on various Apple devices) so, logically, the issue is with the PC you are using.

Thank you.

You don't need to Google search for this facility in Google Chrome as it's already offered by clicking on the three vertical dots in a circle, this gives a drop down menu that includes 'Translate...' and Bob's yer relative.  But I didn't do this it just appeared only on this one forum and nowhere else, but -

So unless it returns that's the end of it and no harm done.

I spent 26 years as an IT specialist in a well-known Cheltenham-based  government security agency.

The results of a GOOGLe-search using the text-string I provided will reveal that your issue is not unique.

This explains our difficulty in understanding each other.

I have no idea if there's any significance with with "GOOGLe-search or it's just typo(s) but I now seen what you meant, I had considered the logic that it might be my PC and/or Google Chrome but it only happened on the one forum page, a test would be this thread.  No I didn't think to bother with a Goggle search.  And I misunderstood what you meant, my mistake, I apologise for that.

There, you might have learnt something from the ex or transferred  Military there.

Strangely this just happened to me.

Logged on, clicked on this forum and the Google translate option popped up in the top corner offering to translate from French.

Doesn't happen on any other site.

This morning, for the first time I've had it happen on another site so it does looks like the Googly playing up in some way, but it's still not doing it on this page now for me.  It's all very minor, a little glitch made by their programmer(s), human or this so-called AI, it's not like these programs are operating heavy machinery. 😆  Luckily car manufacturers go for tried and tested systems, well old cheap to buy components anyway.  Wot could possibly go wrong. 🤣

Hi thanks for the patience, I've been trying that topic and others and have not seen similar.

I take it you're also using chrome browser?

I'm not using that of late. Firefox or duck duck go. If it's still happenign let me know and I'll install chrome etc.

@ColinD hi, thanks for your reply.  Yes it's Chrome (Google can cope with my misspelling so I stick with it, plus I previously used Firefox but had some issues with it but too long ago for me to remember what.  Sod's Law initially this translation thing was only happening in the Mk4 Fabia forum and nowhere else at all so I thought it was only on the Mk4 section but then of course was told differently and experienced it a very few times elsewhere.

It's no problem please just let it go as far as I'm concerned and I can't think of when it last happened last, or that I've noticed at least, on the Mk4 forum or elsewhere.  I might give Firefox, or duck duck go, another try and see how it gets on with my less than a year old PC (with built in CD/DVD? player) running on MS 2010 (very well and very reliably).

Cheers.
