Hello. 
ive tried to set the boot height to max several times. Manually push to max, press and hold boot button until it beeps.  
then close boot. Lock. But every time I open it again it stops at a lower position? 
what bit am I doing wrong. Please.

can the height be coded to stop at a higher position?

I now have a genuine vcds cable.

From manual:

Adjusting

›Stop the lid in the desired position (electrically or manually).

›Press and hold the button B » Fig. 45 on page 60 for longer than 3 seconds.

The setting of the lid top position is confirmed by an acoustic signal.

 

Delete

›Carefully raise the flap manually to the limit.

›Press and hold the button B » Fig. 45 on page 60 for longer than 3 seconds.

An audible signal is emitted. The original position is deleted and the top lid position is set.

 

I guess you shouldnt push boot lid manually to desired position but let it raise electrically and stop electrically (push button) on manually (by hand) and then save. Right now as you rising lid only manually then car deals with it as you would like to delete position or is just confused and wont save anything.

Maybe.

 

Or try saving a position other than max open but something other than the current position and if that is successful then try saving max again.

adding info

i let it rise electrically to the current position but its to low, once its stopped i them manually gently push it to the max limit of the struts, then i press and hold the button until i hear the acoustic signal.

but after closing it with the button locking the car and the opening the boot, it stops at the lower position and does not go to the top?

i must be missing a step out somewhere.

can this height be set using VCDS?

As this reads, you're missing the bit where the maximum permitted height is not the same as the mechanical height limit.

so can i adjust the maximum permissible height? as it physically goes higher can i check this with VCDS.

i may try saving it in stages working my way up to see if does stop higher.

there must be other people over 6 foot who bang there head on the boot lid.

I don't believe u can alter this stuff with VCDS.

 

Max height electronically will b less than max height manually.  It will b a safety thing, to protect the struts.

 

Do u have a wagon or liftback?
