MK4 FL’s bigger infotainment screen to the MK4

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

i ride my Octy for a year now, without any real issues. Mine was manufactured in 2023.

A few months ago I successfully replaced the steering wheel to a capacitive one in order to activate the travel assist feature (adaptive lane assist). Works well and I use it almost everyday, so for me it was a great addition.

The next thing that I consider is to replace the infotainment screen to the new (bigger) one from the Facelift models.

It was possible in the past with the MK2 and MK3 models. As far as I can see, the actual size of the connector is the same.

Anyone ever tried or considered it?

I think you need to change both the screen and the infotainment unit that sits behind the glovebox. I don't think the current unit can display correctly to the larger screen, but it's just a guess.

I can not help you with this but I am wondering, what is the process of changing the steering wheel like? My has a normal one I guess, but the guy doing the coding was able to activate adap. lane assist anyway, I just need to steer the steering wheel like 5 degrees ever 12 seconds so it doesn't shut down but its kinda annoying.

With the capacitive steering wheel, you only need to touch it with 2-3 fingers for it to register you are alert and ready to take over. So it's more a comfort thing as you don't have to turn the steering wheel but only touch it.
I think if the car is fitted with lane assist from factory it comes with a capacitive steering wheel, mine did, but have no clue how to tell based on part number.
