Engine RPM Issue on Skoda Fabia MK3 1.2 Petrol

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some advice: I have a 2016 Skoda Fabia MK3 with a 1.2 petrol engine, and I've encountered a problem – the engine RPM won't go above 3600. Has anyone experienced this, or have any ideas on what might be causing it?

Thanks in advance

Hi, welcome.

When wont it go above 3.600 rpm, what situation(s)?

What gearbox do you have?

What have you checked on the engine and car?

What is the service history of the car?

When?

I've got an idea, but I need to know what gear(s) this issue happens in.

Welcome to the forum.

The engine has a 'soft limiter' - If you are attempting to rev engine while not in gear, this will limit engine speed - or are you having this issue while driving?

What gearbox does your car have?

Thank you,

The car has a manual transmission, but I have this problem even while driving

Warriot193 has already covered the one thing I was.  My only other thoughts are, are there any warning lights or messages on the dash (red/amber-triangle-of-doom and/or other(s)), then it's restrictions on the car that need a good look over the car to find.  With these modern cars, particularly the likes of German marques including VWŠkoda you very often the use of a VW appropriate scan tool, with the program fully up to date for your model and year, to point you to the areas requiring further diagnosis and/or repair.

When did this issue start, was anything done before this on the car, any work or items fitted to the car?

You can add your model and gearbox details to your name plate thingy if you want, mine merely as an example.

To summarise, your Fabia Mk3 is a 2016, 1.2 TSI, Monte Carlo, 5-gear manual, with 54k-miles that won't go above 3,600 rpm when on the road or parked.
