Engine management light on

Featured Replies

I have a yellow / orange light on which is the exhaust system I think.  It always comes on and we run the car for much of the year like this.  But when the MOT comes around we need to sort out the issue.

Normally it is the throttle body which has a lot of tar build up.  So I had it cleaned this week and everything has been fine for a few days, but the light came on today.

I am taking the car to see the mechanic tomorrow evening and he will do a diagnostic on it plus will cancel the old data on the computer.

Im worried though that it will be a bigger problem.  Does anyone know if this is a computer code issue which needs clearing or something else entirely.  I can't believe it is the throttle body getting gunked up again as I saw for myself how clean it became.

The car is 2L diesel 2 wheel drive, 2013 adventure with 127k miles.

EGR valve ? No DPF on a 2013, so I'd wait for the diagnostics result - it might not be a major fault.

What did we clean out at the front of the engine?  It’s next to the air intake tube.  I think it is the throttle body.

where is the egr ?  Can this get blocked up as well?

Are you sure about that?
I have a feeling that all diesel Yetis had Diesel Particulate Filters.

^^^  All since 2009, unless some run out model diesels had not as produced well before.

Which will not be Yeti,s.

Sorry I actually meant Ad Blue injection...

The code on the computer was wiped tonight.  So no light is on at the moment.  The code was saying throttle body.  So it was cleaned and I think it just needed the code erasing.  Fingers crossed all ok.
