I am writing to “commend” the service of Eurotek as well as the complaints and support line of Skoda Czech Republic. The steering wheel of my Skoda Scala (2022), which has only 12,000 km, shows signs of excessive wear. The service center in Sofia, Nadежda district, refuses to replace it under warranty, claiming that the damage is due to external factors. Additionally, communication with Skoda Czech Republic has been slow, with no specific response, further complicating the resolution of the issue. For me, such treatment is unacceptable, and I am considering choosing another brand for my next car.

Do you or another driver of that car wear a ring on your left hand?

No, neither my wife nor I wear rings.

I can only assume that either the wheel catches on something at it is turned, or there is some sort of security steering lock that you fit to the wheel and damages it.

Something is scuffing or abrading that wheel. That is not material perishing.

The most probable cause is the stitches of one of my pants that are rubbing the steering wheel when I get in the car. The garage is very narrow and getting in the car, especially after my wife parked it, is difficult. I don’t use steering locks, they are practically useless. The actual problem is that ŠKODA, after around 2017, started using more and more cheap materials with low quality. Octavia II have a steering wheel made with genuine leather, I  drove one before and the steering wheel was like new, with 200k km on the car. Octavia IV have the same steering wheel like the Scala, made with artificial leather, that is very soft and not for that purpose.
