Superb bad battery coding

Featured Replies

I've changed my battery in my 2018 TDI Superb and decided to code it.

Old one was ASG new one is too. The coding "Battery type" was set to EFB+

I've changed it to Fleece acording to forum discussions. Did I do it right and why could have it been coded this way?

Car was only serviced at Skoda Dealership before.

Assuming you mean AGM type was and is now fitted, then you have coded it correctly.

Factory or dealer must have made an error when coding original or possible previous replacement battery.

Yeah AGM sorry typo. Thanks for the answer.

Skoda don't supply their cars with AGM batteries, only EFB batteries.

so whoever put the AGM battery in ur car before did not perform the battery adaptation.  They should've changed it to Fleece back then, but they either missed it or didn't bother.

Oh I didn't know that the factory one was not AGM. That said I wasn't wrong to put an AGM one ine right?

Not at all - nothing wrong with putting in an AGM battery, provided the battery adaptation is performed.

I recently changed my EFB battery to an AGM one, and did the battery adaptation.

Left is EFB+

Right is AGM

My MY16 Octavia was originally fitted with an AGM - replaced, along with alternator under warranty, within a year. EFB was fitted as replacement. If I knew then what I know now, I would have insisted on another AGM, but the Moll replacement is still good at 8 years.
