Swing Plus radio vs Android Auto Wireless USB dongles

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I tried a couple of USB dongles found on Amazon which promised to allow the wireless connection of Android Auto in place of the standard wired one.

None of them worked for me (the head Unit shown "usb error" and kept restarting until when the USB dongle was removed) so I've sent them back.

I'm sure it's a problem of this radio because before sending them back I tried on friends' other car make/models and they worked fine.

In a last attempt I've also tried updating the Swing Plus software from 8740 to 8755, but still got the same result.

Did anyone found a similar USB dongle that works on the Fabia, or some kind of workaround for this problem?

Could be the same issue I had on my Octavia where the USB port wasn't providing enough power and the dongle would reboot everytime you went to connect. I was provided a workaround by the seller on AliExpress which was to use a secondary cable connected to the cigarette lighter. I didn't try this as the whole point of going wireless was to reduce cable clutter and this would add more. You could possibly hide this all away behind the dash but it seemed like more effort as I'd have to get a hub for the existing port to split it off etc.large.Screenshot_20241105-001621.jpg.eea083df6f1686cb8b3d7c6dec8dab21.jpg

Thought I would update this as I've managed to find a dongle that works for me. It was a CarlinKit Mini5 Pro purchased for $12USD from AliExpress. It is rated for:

Power Input: 5V±0.2V = 1.0A

Power Output: 5V±0.2V = 1.0A

Thank you Wokka for the update.

I've also found on Amazon another one that requires low power and works with my Fabia:

Adattatore Wireless Carplay,... https://www.amazon.it/dp/B0D2HXWZG9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Probably yours has better functions and lower cost however... 👍
