Mad electrics

Featured Replies

The electrics on this 2017 Fabia have become very weird (and worrying). The windscreen wipers suddenly turn on (uninvited) and the lights and fan cut out spontaneously. The local Soda dealer wants £162 per hour. How long?  Don’t know.  Told it they haven’t heard of this issue before. So any advice very gratefully received please!  Thanks.

Is it still playing up?

Has the tyre pressure warning from weeks ago been solved?

Thanks. AG Falco

Thanks. Don’t think the tyre thing has happened since. But the wipers/lights/fan problems continue!

If I was you I'd take up AG Falco's offer and contact him.

The problems could original from one or several areas, you need proper diagnostics to fully pin this or these down.  First thing always, that anyone can do with electric issues is check the battery and battery terminal post clamps, they both need to be clean, and secure, then check the main cables off the battery and their wires and connections, they need to be clean, secure and protected.  If there are any other main earth cables they need to be included.

Then it's matter of chasing back through perhaps the ignition switch, or it could be other electrics or electronics.

What will help is getting a report and live data from a VW appropriate scan tool that has fully up to date program for your model and year and its and your car battery not in low states of charge, that may be part of what AG Falco can offer, if not there are possibly other Briskoda members that can and not at £162/hour, that is a ridiculous cost.

Load of rocks that they haven't heard of electric issues at least similar to yours, have a look at the threads and post on here alone.

Thanks v much.  Yes contacted AG Falco who was very helpful.  He is a little way away geographically so trying to find an electrics garage.

Some auto-electricians (and electricians) are as bad as some mechanics be very selective about who you use.

Have a look at the map here and see if there's anyone nearer to you that can offer any help to at least give a report and perhaps live data. -
