Error:electronic parking brake

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Just been to pick my new Octavia vrs up from the dealership today (71 plate) , when I arrived I was told there had been an error with the battery so they was putting a new one on for me. Drive it home which is 3 hours and all seemed fine, only To be greeted with an electronic parking brake error when I had parked up 😞 . Anyone know if this could be related to the new battery?

I’ll be ringing the dealership up tomorrow as it’s come with 2 year warranty but not the best start to owning a Skoda

I had this problem after an MOT.  It is being checked next month when it has a service.

This:

is the earlier discussion.

Mine was booked in with the dealer next week to have this looked at, but that appointment appears to have disappeared now, so I will have to book it in again, probably in the new year.

The warning, everytime the car is unlocked or the door is opened, is annoying, but the parking brake appears to be working OK, although I might be cautious about parking it on a hill until I know what the cause is.

My brake appears fine.  I had a week in the Lake District and I was parking with the front wheels at an angle when I had to park on a slope.

I took mine back to where it had its MOT. They say that there are a range of linked fault codes and are waiting for a VAG specialist to come out and look at it. In the meantime, they have advised not to drive the car, as it could cause damage to the ABS pump. Since it is a month since the MOT, it might be a bit late for that!

I noticed that in the booking history in Service in the MySkoda app, it says it is "Error: Hill Start Assist (id 42001)". It does make me wonder whether they tried to do some of the brake tests in the MOT with AutoHold still engaged.

Mine is back and the fault is fixed. It required the VAG specialist to clear the codes, but no other problems. The garage accepted it was their MOT that caused the problem, so I didn't have to pay either.

That’s good then! Looks like mine due to the battery having low voltage, so having new battery out on tomorrow. Had quite a few front assist limited availability messages appear recently also so dealership suspect that may also be due to low battery voltage
