Please don't keep us in suspense - did the VW update successfully update your Columbus to ECE 2025? 🤔

That's the next challenge. Sorry, but downloading and unzipping to an SD card is the easy bit as I can do it whilst getting on with other things. I can't get out in the car to try the physical update until at least Wednesday. What I can say is that when I tried the version from the Skoda portal, having skipped the error messages, the Colbumus said it couldn't find the software.

In summary, I'll report back but it might take a day or two.

I've downloaded this link from earlier in this thread:

 VW portal:   https://navigation-maps.volkswagen.com/vw-maps/P390_N60S5MIBH3_EU.7z

It appears to unzip OK. I have the latest 24H2 update to Windows 11 which unzips .7z (7zip) files I understand that earlier version would need the 7zip software to be installed

Finally got time to try to update the maps. I'd unzipped the file to a 32GB SD card. When the update option was selected I had nervous wait until the update was recognised, then the update started. Previous updates took the best part of an hour, whereas this one only took about 30 minutes.

@100andthirty

Thanks for the feedback. Did your extraction of the ECE 2025 zip folder go without any unexpected errors at all? I noticed that you used the latest version of Windows 11 - I wonder if that plays a role? My attempts so far to extract have been on Windows 10!? I am now trying to download and extract ECE 2025 on my Windows 11 Laptop - let's see if that solves the problem! What about you other Skoda / Columbus owners wrt the Windows version?

Probably only took 30 Minutes because its only 15GB

Unzipping it to SD CARD and it only reaches 10% before I get the above error.. It simply doesn't work from the Skoda update portal

Unzip to your hard drive first, then move to USB. Also, try with 7Zip rather than the baked-in Windows tool - I hit the same error using the latter, no problems with 7Zip.

I'd had the errors others have reported with the .zip file from the Skoda portal. There were no errors when unzipping the .7z file from the VW site which is linked to earlier in this thread. As I said before, only the very latest Windows 11 update, currently being rolled out, is able to unzip .7z files, otherwise you need the 7zip software.

Thanks will try unzip in hard drive first and then transfer to SD card will let you know how it goes, but never done it like that before and never had a problems.

Eureka and Hallelujah!

Finally I managed to download / extract / install ECE 2025 on my Superb Combi Columbus SatNav! My thanks go to @100andthirty and @AlistairCookie for the tip to use "7-Zip" to extract files from the ECE 2025 download instead of the built-in extraction software from Windows! 👍

So it appears to me that the problem is not with Skoda but with Microsoft Windows (in my case Windows 10). The 7-Zip program is free to download and use!

I've ben trying all morning with no success so given up for the day, how is it in the past the zipped file has been about 26GB and now only 14GB but they recommend using a 64GB SD card.

They've trimmed the older model maps from the updates.

Update, I have now finally managed to unzip the file from the Skoda Portal to an SD card using the downloaded 7z software so just need to get it into the car now and hopefully it will work. Just wish the Skoda update Portal had put some explanation on their site explaining why it is now only a 15GB download and it would require something different to Windows to unzip..  If it wasn't for you guys I would probably still been pulling my hair out. Thanks to all.  P.S. if i don't work now its a TOM TOM taken a month to get this far.. Thanks again all.

Otherwise Waze or Google Maps when connected to your phone?

I hope that in the meantime you have all managed to find a way to successfully download ECE 2025. My problem was solved when I used the 7-Zip program instead of the built-in Windows zip program. Today for your information, I recieved an email from Skoda in which they say => "We wanted to inform you that the file has been replaced. To ensure a smooth experience, please download it again using a stable network connection. Once the download is complete, you can extract the file using the default Windows packager." It took a while but they apparently got it fixed in the end and I find it good that they took the time to let me know. Let's hope that the next map update (May / June 2025) goes without problem. Happy New Year 👍

Many Thanks,  I did finally manage to do it the same way with 7-Zip Program.   Thanks again for your update.  Happy new year to all 2025.
