Are the updates free

Featured Replies

Had my mk4 for 5 weeks and just had a look at My Skoda app and wondering if all the infotainment updates are free if not all what ones are.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Minor ones are, you can download Sat Nav updates from the Skoda Update Portal using your VIN.

Others are chargable and done via the Skoda App (via Play Store or Apple Store), although there might be a problem with that see Does On Board SIM Card Use 3G thread.

The Infotainment System software updates are usually Dealer (or authorised independent) installed; free (by the dealer) under warranty. After that, as I understand it, they're chargeable. Minor Infotainment System & app updates are free over the air (OTA); and the SatNav map updates are also OTA if you have the appropriate subscription.

As @TheWanderer mentioned, keep an eye on the on-board SIM thread.

They are free only if required to fix some problem. If all works well, dealers won't update anything for free.

I dont have navigation installed... costs like 4000 SEK sigh.... bought trafic sign recognization for 650 sek yesterday.
