Driver window suddenly acting up.

Featured Replies

Got in the car last weekend and put both front windows down to clear the beaded water off before driving off and the drivers window took about six activations of the operating switch before it decided to rise up and close.

Anyone had similar issues ,advise on possible rectification.

I don't dare try it again in case it will not work again, as we are in a wet spell of weather yet again.

Its probably worth checking the wiring loom where it enters the drivers door. This is a problem often reported here on Briskoda, and I suggest you search for solutions already provided here. Good luck - I hope you find an answer!

There's a bunch of little white rockers that sit under the buttons and push down on a rubber pad that contacts the circuit board to tell your window up/down etc.  They break easily.  Mine were doing the same thing with front windows (you'll probably find passenger one works fine from the passenger side, etc)

I replaced mine, part number 5G0 959 857 D - there are variations depending on whether you have the childlock button or the disable windows button below the window switches.  IIRC it was about £65 for a genuine part.

Edit: forgot to add if you're stuck with the window down and need to close it, using the comfort closing on the key should work.

Many thanks both for your thoughts and advice, once this nasty storm clears off I will try to sort it out.
