Loss of power

Featured Replies

I have a 2018 Octavia 1.6TDI with a DDYA engine. Recently I have been experiencing intermittent loss of power, however today all the power has gone and I get surge/misfire and a glow plug light on when I accelerate and the revs go above 2500. The only error code is the usual turbo/supercharger underboost. Ive connected the OBDand found the results attached. All 4 glow plugs were changed changed but I was wondering if I now need a new EGR valve or could it be taken off and cleaned? Or is it even this?

Read the first line!

I don't know your diagnostic software so could be wrong (VCDS terms are commonly incorrect) but it is saying the fault is in the throttle valve.

The throttle valves main function is to create a partial vacuum to draw through EGR gases, it also functions to stop all induction on engine shut down, does your engine shake a little when you switch off?

The throttle valve being clogged with schmoo is very common and easy to clean and rectify, much more so than the EGR valve and cooler.

Mmmm............... I am beginning to doubt the above now, perhaps the line "commanded throttle actuator control" should not be there at all, then the rest would be describing the EGR valve, both have actuators and position sensors.

I'm using ODB auto doctor. Yeah the command throttle actuator control value is off screen and above. I'm wondering if its a dodgy sensor on the EGR as these are the current readings
